Travel Essentials | Face Brushes

I've been gravitating to these five face brushes a lot lately. I suppose you could call them my current favourites. I know because I reach for them the most, especially when it comes to packing. Whether it's for a holiday, a weekend getaway or an overnight soirée, these are the brushes that I have to bring along when traveling.

a. Smashbox #2 Face & Cheek brush

A big powder brush is essential for me. I use this Smashbox brush everyday to apply my Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder. It is a large paddle-shaped brush that's great for lightly dusting powder across on the face.

Pricing & Availability: $48, Smashbox counters at certain SDM Beauty Boutiques, Sephora (I think this brush is still available)

b. Real Techniques Multi-Task brush

This is a versatile brush. That's why I like it. I can use it for blush, bronzer, and even powder if I'm in a pinch. I've been using it for blush, but it is also great for an all over glow of bronzer. It's pretty soft for a synthetic brush.

Pricing & Availability: Walmart, iHerb.com -- only available as part of the Real Techniques Travel Essentials set (around $18).

c. Sonia Kashuk No. 29 Domed Blusher brush

I have been obsessed with this blush brush ever since I picked it up earlier this year. It's well-made, soft, and the perfect shape. I love the pointedness because it allows for a precise application, but it's also quite easy to blend & buff product.

Pricing & Availability: $17.19, Target

d. Hakuhodo Pointed Highlight brush

This brush is so soft! It's small, tapered, and perfect for highlighting / contouring. I've even used it for blush & it works great, too. Like I said, it's a small brush that's made for precise application. It picks up product well and blends easily.

Pricing & Availability: $34 USD, Hakuhodousa.com

e. Real Techniques Essential Foundation brush

When I got this brush in the Real Techniques Travel Essentials set, I didn't think I would be using it regularly (especially since I hardly reach for the smaller RT foundation brush from the Core Collections set). Boy, was I wrong. I actually love this brush for blending out concealer. I use it for blemishes and under eye concealer. Blends effortlessly.

Pricing & Availability: Walmart, iHerb.com -- only available as part of the Real Techniques Travel Essentials set (around $18).

I've been carrying these brushes in one of the cases I have from Real Techniques. It's actually quite useful. It doesn't hold that many brushes, but it's perfect for your select few. I also love that you can fold the case to stand your brushes when you've reached your destination.

So, tell me, what are your essential travel brushes? x

  1. At first glance, I thought the real techniques essential foundation brush was useless (compared to the rest of the set). But like you, I've come to realize how useful it is for concealer/blending! My fave travel brushes are a mini-set for eyes from eco-tools! :D
